PROFESSIONAL BOUNDARIES TRAINING LIMITED provide in-house training for social care workers and allied professionals about the dangers of crossing professional boundaries.
A one day course held in Leeds is also available for those organizations whose commitments will only allow one or two employees to be trained at a time.

The Course designed specifically for social care workers (housing support workers, social workers, community support assistants, mental health support workers, etc.) and allied professionals such as mental health nurses and occupational therapists will encourage discussion in the following areas:-

  • Professional and personal relationships.
  • Why professional boundaries are so important.
  • What are boundary crossings and boundary violations.
  • The grey areas of boundary crossings and the "slippery slope."
  • A professional's own experience of boundary crossings.

Whilst abuse of a vulnerable adult should never be tolerated, there are many grey areas in which social care workers can find themselves having crossed professional boundaries.

Around 40% of the General Social Care Council Conduct Hearings have involved inappropriate relationships with people who use services.*

The Course uses evidence from the Council  for Healthcare Regulatory Excellence, the latest research on professional boundaries commissioned by the GSCC, and the personal experience of the trainers.

COURSE TRAINERS ARE ANDY AND ANITA ATKINS
